Hi Frances, thank you for sharing that. You should also join the Open Practice Technology Network on LinkedIn, as we have a growing contractor community of 500+ there, as well as a subgroup of that for Contract Recruitment and Business Services (CRABS) questions where you can discuss not only the full spectrum of IR35 but also how you should engage and operate, especially if using recruitment agencies

As a contractor I find it increasingly frustrating that IR35 seems to not only confuse us contractors, but even the experts who came up with the idea in the first place! It only compounds the confusion that already surrounds the topic and means seeking accurate advice is harder than ever. It has led me to seek the advice of professionals and I advise anyone who is as confused as me to do the same - research is key, and I found this guide to IR35 from SJD Accountants a very useful starting point. Good luck!

Pickle a squirrel? I'll have to use that analogy the next time that someone focuses too much on just one small part of the security equation and not look at the whole darned thang

Now over 500 people in the group and we are looking to take things to the next level in helping the independent business professional not only better understand management, use and support of technology for business - but also help define and identify requirements that will assist in determining what, where and how to use technology more effectively and efficiently.

This includes defining or determining what person is best to contact for doing that. For instance, the job title of "Business Analyst" (BA) or "Architect" can require totally different skillsets and experience according to different contexts - and so there is a need for clarity around industry roles and expectations for them. In some cases neither is about needing to understand technology at all, but about understanding the businesses' needs and how best to meet them - and without jumping to solutions!

Thank YOU for coming along and helping make it so good! I look forward to seeing one of your movies some time soon - let us know about December 17th! It was great to have people join in with all the clapping - and even singing at one point too! Mark Elie is a hoot too, ain't he? Exactly like you see ...in that Channel 4 Seven Days TV documentary...
